Stonestorm Beginner Guide

New to Stonestorm? This guide explains the first things you need to know: how to start, which class to pick, how kingdoms and idle hunting work and what to do between hunts.

Start in four steps
  1. Open stonestorm.gg in your browser or install the app.
  2. Join one of the three kingdoms.
  3. Pick one of the four classes.
  4. Send your hero hunting and come back for the loot.

01What is Stonestorm

Stonestorm is a free-to-play idle MMORPG set in an East Asian fantasy world. One night the Storm Dragon's scales fell from the sky as glowing stones, the old empire broke apart and three kingdoms rose from the ruins. You arrive as a recruit in a border village where the stones are still falling.

02Your first steps

Your hero hunts on their own, even while you sleep or work. Your job is to come back regularly: collect the loot, upgrade your gear at the forge and take on bosses. Every run, fight and catch also adds points to your kingdom in the weekly Kingdom War.

  1. HuntSend your hero out. They keep fighting while you are offline.
  2. CollectCome back to pick up the loot your hero found.
  3. ForgeUpgrade your gear at the forge.
  4. FightTake on bosses, the Stormcatcher tower and the arena.

04Choose your class

Four classes, two paths each, and 6 armor tiers that everyone can see on you. The developers' advice: pick by playstyle, not by looks.

How skills work
  • Your class skill fires on every third attack and costs 20 SP.
  • From level 5 you pick a path: it swaps in a stronger skill and adds a passive bonus.
  • Skill books from forays, bosses and tower bosses level the path skill up to 10, +4% per level.

06Idle hunting and gear

Idle hunting is the heart of Stonestorm. Send your hero out to hunt and close the game: they keep fighting while you are offline, and the loot is waiting when you come back. Use it to upgrade your gear at the forge, then take on tougher monsters and bosses.

No trading
There is no trading between players. Everything you own, you earned, so your gear comes from hunting, bosses and the forge.

09Beginner tips

Start in the first 72 hours. Every hero created within 72 hours of launch gets the First Dawn title.
Use your Dead Stones fights. You get three free fights a day during the event, and every win brings Wisp Lanterns.
Mark the fox weekends. Hwaryeon only appears on Saturdays and Sundays. Beat her twice for the Foxbane title.
Pick your class by playstyle. Warrior if you want to be hard to kill and simple to play, Mage if you play solo and hate buying potions.
Plan for level 5. That is when you choose your path, so read both paths of your class before you get there.
Keep your skill books. Forays, bosses and tower bosses drop them, and each level makes your path skill 4% stronger.
Show up for Stone Rain. Several times a day the whole server smashes storm stones in the town, and a fast job brings a blessing for everyone.
Join a guild. Guilds build a fortress together and fight a shared guild boss every day.
Everything counts for your kingdom. Every run, fight and catch adds Kingdom War points, even fishing.
